The Green Light at the Crossing No One Cared About
There’s not too many things more disturbing for the city pedestrian than watching the light turn green on a zebra crossing and knowing that you won’t make it. You look jealously at the people crossing it, the people who are all ahead of you, closer to the other side of a wide, busy boulevard. By the time you get there with tons of groceries weighing your shoulders down, it’s red again, and as you relax your arms carefully letting down the bags to the ground, you feel exhausted and irritated. Timing is everything and a good pedestrian knows how to navigate so she never has to stop at a red.
3 Favourite Disney Songs
Here’s my top 3 in no particular order. You can surely guess when I was a kid just by looking at the titles. :)
Aladdin – Friend Like Me (1992)
Our first ever VHS tape was Aladdin. And the Genie was exactly the kind of friend a lonely kid like me longed for. No, Genie, my friends cannot do any of that. This is one of those films that would make me sad and happy and sad again. Why can’t the Genie be real?
Mulan – I’ll Make a Man Out of You (1998)
I love tough girls and Mulan was definitely one of those. But then there’s this moment when Mulan kicks Shang in the face and you realise that the captain might suspect something. And then at that very moment, Shang looks SO sexy. I’m not sure whether that’s allowed in a kid’s film.
Hercules – Zero to Hero (1997)
These five über-cool muses represent my four sisters and me cheering for our one and only brother (Hercules). Fuck that skinny chicken Meg – every girl wants to be one of these badass women.
On second thought, my ultimate favourite is probably Zero to Hero. And all the other songs from Hercules. And I also often cry at the end. Don’t judge me!
But honestly, how crazy good are these 90s films?
